The table tennis event at this year’s sports festival became one of the most talked-about parts of the entire day, even among students who usually do not pay much attention to sports. Although I did not watch every single match from beginning to end, I spent enough time in the gym to feel the excitement that surrounded the tournament. From the moment I stepped inside, I noticed the lively atmosphere created by the echoing cheers and the sharp, rhythmic sounds of the balls bouncing on the tables.
The matches were held on several tables set up across the school gym. Students from different classes gathered to support their friends, waving handmade signs and shouting encouraging words. Even from a distance, you could sense the competitive spirit. Players stood nervously at the edge of the tables, gripping their rackets and waiting for the referees to give the signal to begin. As soon as the rallies started, the energy in the room shifted. People who had never played table tennis before leaned forward, drawn in by the unexpectedly fast pace of the games.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the tournament was seeing how differently each class approached the matches. Some players relied on powerful smashes, sending the ball racing across the table at incredible speed. Others focused on careful control, returning each shot with slow, curved spins that made their opponents chase the ball in every direction. The variety of playing styles made each match feel unique, even for casual spectators like me.
Although I was not close enough to hear the conversations among teammates, it was clear that many classes had practiced hard before the festival. Players shared brief eye contact, nodded in silent agreement, and encouraged one another between points. That small display of teamwork made the event feel more meaningful than just a competition. It reminded everyone that sports festivals are not only about winning but also about building connections within each class.
After many rounds of play, the final match drew a particularly large crowd. Even if most of us did not fully understand advanced table tennis techniques, we could still feel the tension rising with every rally. When Class 3C eventually claimed the victory, the entire gym erupted with applause. Their celebration was simple but heartfelt, and their smiles showed how proud they were of their effort.
Overall, the table tennis event added a cheerful and memorable moment to this year’s sports festival. It brought students together, created excitement, and left everyone with a sense of shared enjoyment—even for those who were only watching from the sidelines.
