Gummies were one of the most memorable snacks during my study abroad experience in Canada. The wide variety of gummy bears available in Canada allowed me to enjoy them with my friends during my study abroad. Below is a detailed explanation of the popularity of gummy bears in Canada and my study abroad experience. Types of Gummies in Canada Haribo gummies: Particularly popular, these teddy bear-shaped gummies are the most common type. They come in a variety of flavors and are a favorite among international students. Maynards: A Canadian staple, these gummies are available everywhere. They come in a variety of flavors, and many of them are cute and pop in color and shape. Bear shaped gummies: Popularly known as “gummy bears” in Canada, these gummies are especially popular for their cute and colorful designs. Snake shaped gummies: Literally long and thin, these gummies are very satisfying to eat. Sometimes they are tangled together, sometimes they are like one lump. Worm-shaped gummies: Most are strawberry or cherry flavored in terms of color. They are more eerie than snake-shaped gummies, but I can guarantee you that they taste good. Gummies with jam: Literally, there is jam inside, which will give you a juicier taste. Bean-like shape: Sometimes seen in Japan. Great value with lots of different flavors. Gummies rolled up in sheets: You are unlikely to find these in Japan. I wonder how long they are. They are sold at a local $1 store and are reasonably priced. Types of gummy flavors Strawberry flavor: Probably the most common flavor. Because of its popularity and aroma, students are often seen with it at school. Orange flavor: This is another very common flavor. The aroma is very good, but sometimes there are ridiculously sour ones available. Even if it is simply an orange flavor, there is a big difference in the hue. Cherry flavor: One of the most common flavors. Although it says “cherry flavor”, it does not taste like cherries. It is a chemical taste, and Japanese people have distinct likes and dislikes for it. Cola flavor: One of the most common flavors and my favorite. It has a perfect balance of sourness and sweetness. As with the orange flavor, there are sometimes ridiculously sour individuals. Extremely hot flavor: why do spicy flavors exist even though they are gummies? No one knows the answer. The only thing I can say is that whoever came up with this idea is probably a very crazy person! Mystery flavor: You can’t even imagine what it tastes like from the outside. It takes a lot of determination and courage to eat this one. But the fact that it has been sold for a long time means that there are some people who like it. Gummy experiences while studying abroad Sharing with friends: While studying abroad, I often shared snacks with friends, and gummy bears were especially popular among them. We had a great time trying different flavors. Gummies as souvenirs: When I returned home from Canada, I chose gummy bears as souvenirs for my friends and family. Haribo and Myers gummy bears were especially appreciated because some of the flavors are not available in Japan. Gummy Culture in Canada Diversity: Canada is a multicultural society and offers a wide variety of snacks from many different countries. Gummies are part of this mix, blending styles and flavors from different countries. Fun at events: Gummies were often served at school events and parties, adding to the casual atmosphere. Throughout my study abroad experience in Canada, gummy bears have become more than just a snack. They have become a part of my memories with friends and a part of our culture. The many gummy bears I encountered during my study abroad experience are still a part of my most cherished memories.
